Funding for Violent Films needs to Stop
The alternate perspective
Who Benefits from a Violent Society?
A society that embraces violence is easier to manipulate. When aggression becomes the norm, people are more likely to be divided, distracted, and reactive. A nation in turmoil is a nation that is easier to control—both economically and politically. Could this be the underlying motive behind the heavy investment in violent content?
Foreign entities that seek to weaken India from within may find it convenient to inject chaos through cultural means. By funding violent cinema, they subtly shape a generation that is less focused on intellectual growth and more prone to aggression and division. This not only affects social harmony but also weakens India’s potential as a stable, forward-thinking global power.
A Call for Balance: Reviving Ethical Filmmaking
While action-packed cinema has its place, it should not dominate to the extent that it erases diverse storytelling. Investors must recognize the value of positive content, and audiences must actively support films that promote family values, peace, and hope. Filmmakers, too, must resist the coercion to conform and take bold steps towards creating content that uplifts society rather than desensitizes it to violence.
Ultimately, cinema should be a reflection of a nation’s aspirations, not a tool for its deterioration. It is time to rethink the direction in which Indian cinema is heading and ensure that it serves as a force for good rather than a weapon for harm.
